Amy Kline represents reinsurers and cedents in litigation and arbitration. She has tried cases in federal and state courts, arbitrated matters before private arbitration panels, and argued before federal and state courts of appeal.
Past and current insurance and reinsurance representations include:
- Arbitrating a case involving cut-throughs and third-party liability under a reinsurance contract
- Representing a reinsured in litigation involving issues of coverage, notice, waiver, prejudice and the duty of utmost good faith
- Arbitrating a case involving the termination of a managing general underwriter
- Representing a cedent in a dispute over good-faith settlement payments and the applicability of follow the fortunes
- Arbitrating a case involving reinsurance of an insolvent cedent
- Arbitrating multiple cases involving variable annuity death benefit reinsurance
In collaboration with the members of the firm's Insurance Practice Group, Amy publishes the Reinsurance Redux, a monthly "redux" on developments in the law of reinsurance and arbitration.
Through her involvement as a member of ARIAS-US, Amy has spoken as a panelist and participated in mock arbitrations for Arbitrator Training Workshops. Amy has lectured on insurance and reinsurance issues for the Insurance Society of Philadelphia and, through her involvement with the Insurance Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association, team-taught an "Advanced Topics in Insurance Course" at Rutgers-Camden School of Law.
Amy assists veterans in her community in obtaining benefits from the Veterans’ Administration.
Amy is also an Adjunct Professor of Law at Villanova University School of Law, where she teaches Civil Pretrial Practice and a course on Judicial Externships.
